you to have basic knowledge about dental implant treatment. |
What is dental implant? |
A dental implant is an artificial titanium tooth root that is
placed into your jawbone to hold a replacement tooth. Titanium is used for the
dental implant because it's strong and well-tolerated by human body.
Titanium used for implants has gone through a special processing, and it will
be integrated into living bone tissue structurally and functionally when it's
placed in jawbones. (Osseointegration)
After a titanium root and a crown are placed, the implant feel and functions like
your own tooth. So you will regain the ability to eat virtually anything.
Dental implants are a well- established, and the most innovative treatment to
replace missing teeth at this era. |

The first human patient to have dental implants placed. |
Dental implants were developed by Dr. Branemark. In 1952, he discovered by
accident that titanium could be structurally integrated into living bone tissue,
and went on his study for 13 years to put this discovery to practical use.
After the safety of implants was proved, Dr. Branemark finally placed his first
dental implant into a human patient. It functioned normally for as long as 40
years until the patient passed away. |
|
How long do dental implants last? |
Dental implants can last almost as long as natural teeth if the treatment
is correctly done. Clinical data shows 90% of upper jaw implants and 92.3% of
lower jaw ones remain more than 20 years, but these rates differ depending on
dentist's skill. As for us, we've achieved 98% remaining rate over the last 6
years.
Besides, it's been proved that the remaining rate is much higher if implants function
normally for the first 5 years.
We assure our implants can last a lifetime by your diligent maintenance. |
